LADIES LOVE SCIENCE!

WE LOVE SCIENCE AND WE LOVE YOU.

Grace Hopper (1906-1992) was a pioneering computer scientist as well as a member of the Navy Reserve (and she was the oldest female member of the armed forces!). Hopper created the COBOL (Common Business-Oriented Language) program, allowing computers to communicate with language instead of just numbers.

Hopper is credited with a bunch of other computer-y stuff (see: team for UNIVAC I, the second commercial computer created in the U.S., working compiler, etc, etc.) ans, if that’s not good enough for you, there is also a Navy destroyer named after her.
